You may have seen more and more posts from us across social media talking about the new Good-To-Great website. But what does it actually mean to you when growing a business?

As a business coaching practice we are consistently under high levels of growth… I mean we wouldn’t be very good business coaches if we weren’t following through on what we preach would we. In our expansion, we have become a resource platform for business owners, a place where they can come and gather help and ideas on growing a business. Some of the business owners—that wish to get the most out of their business—also utilise the One-to-One Coaching and Group Coaching services. Those that have have had the greatest results in their business exceeding £30,000,000 in turnover some cases.

So, what does Good to Great actually mean?

Well at first glance the name Good to Great represents the ‘What’ we do. We work with good businesses that are already doing well, but want to go that next-level. To become great, businesses need to be heading towards being world class in what they do. To be world-class means that they are in the top 5% in the world in their industry. For example, if I said to you “who is the first company that comes into your mind when you think of mobile phone?” which companies would you reply with? These companies are the great! And remember, they were once just working out of a small warehouse or garage.

Greatness is achievable by any company. The question is, how much of a visionary are you as a business owner? And… how much do you want it?

Ethos

Now the term Good to Great was also a book title by Jim Collins. The ethos that surrounds the book is identical to that which we instil in our clients here at ActionCoach West Midlands. There is no better or clearer way of putting it… we take good companies from where they are now (the 95%) and move them into greatness (the top 5%). Be sure to read the client feedback and watch the videos on the homepage to see what others are saying.

Mission (our why)

So… there is also one more reason why we chose ‘Good-to-Great’ as the name. We have touched on it with the ethos behind the phrase, but it goes way deeper than that!

As we mentioned, Good-to-Great represents what we do, but it also represents our ‘why’. It is our mission (our why) to help as many business owners across the UK that are growing a business grow to new levels in some manner. Having the name Good-to-Great is a constant reminder of our service to these business owners. Everything we do, whether be a phone call, a coaching session, or an invite to a public speaking event, the intention is always to help the business to go from ‘Good-to-Great’.

More on Culture in Your Business

The culture of any business is critical to its success—especially when going from Good to Great. It allows the business to be world class. Culture attracts world class people, just look at Google and Apple. Culture motivates and inspires the business towards greatness. If you’re not embracing culture in your business it leads to dissatisfied workforce, dissatisfactory customer service, negative behaviour towards the business, turnover of staff, and a carrot and stick mentality in the business. If you haven’t considered culture in your business, it is time to wake up and do something about it before your competitors do.
