In Gallup’s latest survey of 1.4 million employees across 34 countries, some pretty surprising results emerged around employee engagement.  Let’s liken it to a boat with 10 people in:  The results stated that 3 were rowing, 5 were sitting doing nothing, and 2 were drilling holes in the bottom!

The impact on workplace performance is alarming – companies with an engaged workforce outperformed their competitors by 147%, with higher engagement affecting such factors as absenteeism, staff turnover, customer metrics, productivity and profitability.  According to Gallup, there are 12 key considerations for measuring the level of employee engagement – mainly focused around expectations management, growth and recognition, and community.

An employee engagement programme affords you the opportunity to not only improve staff retention and morale, but also encourages innovation and identifies future leadership potential.  It removes silo mentality and increases accountability, all of which clearly benefit organisational performance and leverage what for most organisations is their largest overhead.
